not all of you have Facebook profile, right? But have you ever thought about
creating a Fan page that promotes yourself as an athlete and a way to showcase
your sponsors?
If you
see yourself as an established competitor or someone who is planning on moving
up through the ranks to bump the top guy (or girl) off the podium, this is
something you should do… These
are a few reason why you should do this.
- You
have to look at yourself (as an athlete) as a business and as a business
you want to promote yourself in order for customers (sponsors) to want to
do business with you.
- Keep
your personal life private. We see it all the time – too much information.
You want to look professional as an athlete, sure everyone like to have a
good time, but something are just better off for only your friends to see.
- Facebook
can be used for sharing information about how awesome you are as a
competitor, promote your sponsors brand and build up excitement for how
you will do at the next race. Then just wait for all the congrats when you
win!
- As an
athlete, you want to have fans and when your fan page accumulates more
than 25 fans, your page with get a custom URL
- Raise
awareness to yourself and the sport.
- Start using #ProWatercross, this way we can share your Facebook status on the Pro Watercross Fan page. This will help you to gain more fans and it also can be used on other social media platforms like twitter and Instagram.
- Your Fan
page is measurable. This is one of the things your sponsors want to
see; your growth as an athlete lets your sponsor know that their
brand is being seen in unlimited impression through your pictures and
posts.
- Facebook Fan pages are indexed by search engines; this means you are now a searchable entity.

convinced you to start up a fan page? I hope so! It’s really easy and this is
just one thing we can do to grow the sport. Now go to www.facebook.com/pages/create/

there.
Sometimes
you have to step out of the box to really see what’s happening inside the
box… Do you have an idea on how we can grow the sport? Send us your ideas
(try and keep it brief), we are listening and are always open to suggestions!
