It's time to rack 'em up for rounds 5 and 6 of the 2016 Great Lakes Watercross Tour.

Petenwell Lake will once again host some of the region's hottest PWC racers and the competition promises to be intense as the fight for rankings intensifies.

"This is a pivotal point race weekend for a lot of racers, so we're going to be seeing some tough competition out there," said event organizer Scott Hyke. "This is the chance to take back any of those points you missed out on early in the season, and for some of our racers that got a late start in the season, this is the perfect chance to work your way into an better points standing before we head into the final rounds of the season."

This Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 6-7, will be the final double-shot weekend for racers, and the scramble for points to accumulate toward the Season Championship will mean starting line to checkered flag battles in each class.

“The Great Lakes Watercross Tour has showcased some great races this year,” said A.J. Handler, CEO of Pro Watercross, which is the sanctioning body for the Great Lakes Tour.

After this coming weekend, the Great Lakes Watercross tour is headed to Kenosha, WI, for the 2016 Surf Moto Watercross race in conjunction with the Watcon.com Lake Michigan Surf Ride. A 1-day race on Lake Michigan, the Pennoyer Park event is the final round of the Great Lakes Tour before the season-ending Championship Round, which is scheduled for Sept. 17 on Lake Koshkonong in Milton, WI, just north of Janesville WI.
